Obi is more than just the dog behind the name Obi Academy. He is the reason Obi Academy exists.

I have always loved dogs, and working with them — grooming, training, and scent work — became something I wanted to build my life around. But Obi is the dog who made that real for me.

He was the first dog I got on my own as an adult. I chose him, I bought him myself, and he became mine in every sense. He became my companion, my responsibility, my little shadow, and honestly, the love of my life.

I had already been through some difficult years. I was part of the Class of 2020, so I missed the prom, the graduation, and a lot of the normal ending to high school that everyone assumes they’ll have. Then in 2021, I lost my older brother Ryan when he was only 21.

Obi came into my life after all of that, and he became much more than a dog to me.

He is part of why I chose to work with dogs. He is part of why I train them, groom them, and work with scent training. And he is the reason I named this business Obi Academy.

Now he needs me.

After being injured while playing, Obi began having neurological symptoms. His doctors believe he is dealing with one of two serious conditions. One possibility is intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). The other is a neurological condition seen in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

We need an MRI to determine which condition he has and what treatment he needs.

I’ve already had veterinary expenses trying to find out what is wrong, and I simply do not have the money for the MRI right now.

I hate asking for help, but this is Obi. He has been with me through some of the hardest years of my life, and I need to do everything I can to be there for him now.
